Instructions for Surgery

The pre-operative nurses from the hospital that you will be having surgery at will call 3-5 days prior to your date of surgery to do your medical interview.  If necessary they will make an appointment with you to meet the anesthesiologist a few days prior to your surgical date.   Your final call will be the day before your surgery to inform you of your arrival time on the day of your surgery.

If you are taking any type of blood thinning medications, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Vitamin E, Plavix, etc., you are to discontinue this 5-7 days before your surgery.  If you are taking medication and you do not know whether or not it contains these ingredients, call your medical doctor or pharmacists.

Very Important: Consult your medical doctor to make sure it is alright to stop taking this medication.  Some preparations can be hazardous to your health.  You must confirm with the office that this is the preparation that you are to take.

Starting at midnight, the night before your surgery, you cannot have anything by mouth.  THIS INCLUDES WATER!

You must do two (2) Fleet Enemas on the day of your surgery, before you leave home.  If your surgery is very early, you do one (1) Fleet Enema the night before prior to bedtime and one (1) the morning of your surgery, before you leave home.
